Privacy policy

Effective November 4, 2026

This policy covers JustYards Golf GPS for iPhone, its Apple Watch app and this website. JustYards has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and your location stays on your device. This policy explains the few things that do leave it.

Your location

JustYards uses your location in two ways:

• Finding nearby courses. When you ask, the app takes one location fix while it is open to list courses near you.
• Yardages during a round. After you tap Start, your iPhone and Apple Watch use location to measure the distance to the green. The round keeps using location while your phone is locked or you are in another app, until you tap End Round, or for at most eight hours from when the round started.

Distances are worked out on your device. JustYards never sends your location to us or anyone else, and never keeps a history of where you have been: no breadcrumbs, shot tracking or routes.

During a round, your Lock Screen can show the hole and the distance to the green, so anyone who can see your screen can see them too.

iPhone and Apple Watch

Your iPhone and Apple Watch send each other the course, the current hole and whether the round has ended. Each one measures distance with its own GPS. This goes between your own devices, not through our server.

Course downloads

The app downloads a signed list of courses and the course files you need from our server at hcut.net. These requests do not include your location or any information about you. Like any web request, they reveal your device's network address to our server, which uses it only to answer the request.

Course reports you choose to send

You can report a problem with a hole or a course, or ask for a missing course. Most reports are sent as soon as you pick the problem. If a report can't be sent, for example without a connection, it waits in Your Reports on your phone until you tap Send. You can see every report you have sent in Your Reports.

A report contains a random report number, the course and its version, the hole number, the kind of problem, the app and course list versions, and an optional note of up to 200 characters that you write. A course request contains the course you picked, or the name, town, state or region, and country you typed.

Reports never include your location, pins, round times, screenshots, device identifiers or contact details. Our server stores them with the day received, but not your network address or the time of day, and deletes them after 180 days. We use them only to fix and add course data. Deleting a report in the app removes it from your phone, not from our server. To have a sent report removed, email us the course, the problem and roughly when you sent it.

Please don't put personal information in the note.

What stays on your device

Your settings, any greens you place yourself and any hole numbers you assign are stored only on your iPhone, and on your Apple Watch during a round. Placed greens and your numbers are kept out of device backups and are never sent to us. Delete them in the app, or delete the app to remove everything.

Email

If you email us, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and keep the conversation for up to 12 months after it ends.

This website

justyards.app sets no cookies, runs no analytics and keeps no visitor logs. It does not ask for your location.

Apple services

The map is drawn by Apple Maps, so your device contacts Apple directly to load map imagery, and Apple's privacy policy covers that. If you test a beta through TestFlight, Apple shares crash reports and any feedback you submit with us. On the App Store, Apple shares crash reports with developers only if you allow it in your iPhone's settings.

Your choices

• Tap End Round to stop location, or turn off location for JustYards in your iPhone's Settings.
• Sending a report is up to you. There is no account to delete.
• To ask what we hold or to remove a sent report or email, write to us at the address below.

Everything else

• We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
• JustYards is not directed at children under 13. It never asks for your name, email or other contact details.
• If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
